Candy Making

Spring Soccer
Spring soccer season is scheduled to start the week of March 29 and end roughly May 22.  Most games will be played on the weekends, but are not limited to weekdays. Most practices are held on weekday evenings at Longwood Park.  Depending on your youth’s age, our age divisions U6 (kids 4 & 5) and U8 (kids 6 & 7) will play co-ed and in-house.   Our other divisions GU10 (girls 8 & 9), BU10 (boys 8 & 9), GU12 (girls 10 & 11), BU12 (boys 10 & 11), GU14 (girls 12 & 13), BU14 (boys 12 & 13) will play teams from other communities (home & away) in the Suburban Recreation Soccer League (www.srslonline.org).

Fee per participant:  Program $60 / Resident $50

Additional Sibling: Program $45 / Resident $35

Tot Soccer
Tuesdays, April 27 – May 25
5:30 – 6:15 p.m.

Kids ages 3 to 4 will learn soccer fundamentals at an early age in a non-league environment. Kids will be prepared for U6 soccer by learning soccer terminology and skills. Kids will be divided into small groups and practice once a week for 45 minutes. Emphasis will be based on learning skills.  Deadline to register is April 23.  No drop ins. No coupons.

Children ages 2-5 years will have lots of fun as they learn to love to exercise and build good habits. Winter Night Hike
Friday, Feb. 19
6:30 p.m.

Get the family together and head out to Longwood Park for a crisp hike on the trails! Hike for approx. 45 mins., followed by marshmallows, smores, and hot chocolate by the fire. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Kids Winter Water Olympics
Saturday, Feb. 27
3:30pm – 4:30pm 6-9 yrs.
4:30pm – 5:30pm 10-12 yrs.

Children ages 6-11 are invited to celebrate the Winter Olympics in a kids-only water competition. We have put a twist on the winter game event and include some summer fun ones. Compete in games such as freestyle splash, ice curling, target toss, and ice shot-put. Registration Deadline Feb. 15. No drop ins. No coupon.

Boater’s Safety Course
Thursdays, Mar. 4 – 25
6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Operating boats over 10 horsepower in the State of Ohio requires all persons born after January 1, 1982 to complete a boating education course. This course will teach basics of Ohio boating laws, including equipment, regulations, trailering, launching and rules of the water. Must attend all 4 classes. Deadline to Register is Feb. 25.  No drop ins. No coupons.

AARP Driving Course
Tuesday, Mar. 16
8:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This classroom course is designed especially for motorists age 50 and older. The four hour course covers techniques to compensate with changes in hearing, vision and reaction time. Participants receive a thorough review of the “rules of the road,” emphasis on defensive driving practices. Graduates may be eligible to receive a state mandated multiyear discount on their auto insurance. For more information: visit www.aarp.com. Register at the Macedonia Family Recreation Center.

Youth Dodgeball
Mondays, March 15 – April 19
6:00 – 8:15 p.m. (no meeting on April 5)

Duck, dodge, and dive out of the way! Get geared up for another exciting round of Youth Dodgeball! Teams are selected each week and battle playing several variations of dodgeball. Boys and girls in grades 3-5 play at 6:00-7:00 pm and grades 6-8 at 7:15- 8:15 pm.  Deadline to register is March 14.  No drop ins. No coupons.

Youth Volleyball
Wednesdays, Mar. 17, 31 & Apr. 14, 21
6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Open to boys and girls in grades 5-7. Participants will learn basic skills of volleyball and enhance their playing skills. Practices followed by games. Deadline to register is Mar. 10.  No drop ins. No coupons.

Aquatic Easter Egg Hunt
Saturday, March 27

Kids, grab your swimsuit and jump into our pool for the 6th annual Macedonia Family Recreation Center Aquatic Easter Egg Hunt! Everyone will receive a goodie bag, but the person finding the magic egg will receive a special treat! One adult chaperone per child is included in the price. You can stay and enjoy the rest of your day swimming in our pools. Any other adult or child not participating in this event must pay the daily admission fee to use the pool. Please register early so this event won’t be cancelled! No coupon.
